The best destinations in Salzburger Land

Jägersee and Tappenkarsee Kleinarl (approx. 12km)

Two lakes of incredible beauty, separated by a rocky rock face and many metres of altitude, yet as if from a consummate cast, one. A hike from Jägersee to Lake Tappenkar is one of the most beautiful experiences you can have in the Pongau summer, and for me is certainly one of the most remote high points here inSalzburgerLand. why? Certainly, there are lakes, rock faces, high peaks and waterfalls elsewhere, where the water plunges dramatically into the depths. But where else does all this result in such a harmonious whole and combine this into a unified image that could not be more beautiful?

Liechtensteinklamm (ca. 15km)

The Liechtenstein Gorge is certainly one of the longest, deepest and most impressive sobbing in the Alps. The mighty noise of the waterfall, the moss-covered stones in lush greenery, a fabled atmosphere and sun rays that create a rainbow in the fine water dust. The unique natural spectacle in Salzburger Land is known for an unforgettable excursion of a special kind - an experience for the whole family.

Golf course St. Johann in Pongau (approx. 15 km)

The open GOLF St. Johann Alpendorf complex consists of two 9-hole golf courses. It is extremely conveniently located on the Pinzgauer Bundesstraße B 311 directly between Bischofshofen and the district capital St. Johann in Pongau – with a view of the magnificent Tennengebirge.

Hohenwerfen Castle (approx. 30 km)

An airy experience awaits you at the over 900-year-old Hohenwerfen adventure castle in Salzburg's Pongau. On the steep rocky cone high above the Salzachtal valley, the air of the surrounding mountain giants blows around your nose when you look through the Schießscharten.

Eisriesenwelt (ca. 35 km)

The Ice Giant World is a cave labyrinth of more than 40 kilometres of total length. The development took place over a very long period of time. The first crevices and fissures in the limestone rock were created in the course of the mountain lifts about 100 million years ago. Due to chemical dissolution processes and water erosion over thousands of years, the underground fissures widened and large cavities were formed. The caves in the Alps are still in a process of development, although many cave systems – even large parts of the ice giant world – no longer develop significantly due to dehydration.

Goldwaschen in Rauris (approx. 45 km)

One of the last adventures of our time is the real gold washing at the historic original locations of the Goldberg Group Rauris. Surrounded by the free-flying vultures and eagles of the Krumel Valley. Wash gold from the Naturbach, where the gold miners tried their luck centuries ago. Learn the gold washing technique and find your own Tauerngold.

Experience Dachsteingletscher (ca. 45 km)

At 2,700 metres, the highest mountain in Styria captivates with a fabulous natural backdrop and a panoramic view over the mountain peaks of Austria as far as the Czech Republic and Slovenia.

Attractions like the Dachstein Suspension Bridge, the Sky Walk, the Ice Palace make your unforgettable mountain experience even more exciting. Here, breathtaking moments are just as guaranteed as a thrill with a view. The ascent with the Dachstein Glacier Railway alone including a gondola balcony is an experience in itself.

Salzwelten Hallein (approx. 60 km)

In the "Salzwelten Hallein," you will discover the original treasures of the Salzburger Land, which were hidden deep in the tunnels of the Dürrnberg. The oldest show mine in the world shows a fascinating underground world in which the "white gold", i.e. the salt, was mined more than 2,500 years ago. With the salt lake, the slide, a Celtic village and traditional stories, you will embark on an exciting journey of discovery.

Water games Hellbrunn Palace (approx. 65 km)

The famous Hellbrunn water games are considered a true spectacle that can still be experienced today just as it was more than 400 years ago: Mystical grottoes, water-powered figures and treacherous spray fountains await you.

The state capital Salzburg: Baroque old town for those interested in culture (approx. 70 km)

Cultural excursions and one-day city trips are best taken to the state capital Salzburg, which is about an hour's drive away. Here you can admire the sign of Salzburg - the fortress Hohensalzburg as well as the baroque old town with its loving alleys. If you want to find yourself during Mozart's lifetime, you can visit the former composer's birthplace and residence. And even in bad weather, son-like discoveries in the House of Nature are guaranteed.

Grossglockner High Alpine Road (approx. 80 km)

The wildlife park covers 11 hectares and is home to 40 wild animals in the open-air enclosure. Connected to the wildlife park is the family amusement park, which is also free to visit.
